Jared Juntado died suddenly of a heart attack on the morning of July 18, 2026, in Daly City, California. He was 33 years old.

He was born in San Francisco on December 30, 1992, to Jocelyn Marfori-Juntado and Nestor Juntado. He grew up in the Westlake district of Daly City with his older brother, Jonathan. He attended Our Lady of Mercy Elementary School and graduated from Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco.

Jared enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a radio operator. In 2016, he deployed with U.S. Southern Command, participating in joint exercises with the Honduran military and providing humanitarian relief efforts in Haiti. He rose to the rank of Sergeant before his honorable discharge in 2020. Above all, he took pride in mentoring young Marines, helping them learn to lead both in uniform and in life.

Driven by his service, Jared turned to foreign policy. He earned a Bachelor of Science in International Relations from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Arts from the Department of War Studies at King’s College London. Most recently, he served with the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Washington, D.C., working in the Grants Program Directorate.

Jared spent his final months in Daly City, living in his childhood home alongside his mother and father. He spent those days surrounded by the people who mattered most, looking toward the future while staying grounded with family and friends.

Jared had a sharp humor and a rare gift for making genuine connections with people. He traveled the world—sometimes alone, often with companions. He loved live music, rooted hard for his teams, and drew others into the things he cared about. He pushed the people in his life to live to their greatest potential and hold themselves to a higher standard.

He is survived by his mother, Jocelyn; his father, Nestor; his brother, Jonathan; his sister-in-law Michelle; his nephew, Nolan; and many loving relatives and friends.
